Tuesday night is a coaches session, mostly for people comfortable on skates, but wiht some beginners as well. Saturday Ice with Bay State Speed Skating is a coached program designed for beginning, intermediate and advanced skaters. Saturday skating with Bay State is a great family activity. Come try us. HOW DO I START? Come to one of our ice sessions! If you know how to skate or want to learn, come to a session! We have coaches on the ice leading our skaters through a fun workout whenever we have ice. Because we have skaters of all levels on the ice, we are able to ensure that everyone skates with a small group of skaters with similar abilities. Bring a pair of skates (you can use hockey or figure skates), a bicycle helmet, soft knee pads, gloves and long sleeve clothing. Walk on-sessions cost $25 for first time skaters. Reduced rates are available for regular skaters and walk-on rates increase after the first session. See the appropriate Schedule for more information on membership (registration), ice rates and ice times. We might be able to help find a pair of skates for a trial basis with enough advance notice or Alan Cook provides a skate rental service.
